About Suryacitta

Suryacitta is the author of five books on mindfulness and compassion including, A Mindfulness Teacher's Handbook - Surprise your students, not just with what you teach, but by how you teach.

He has been practising mindfulness and meditation since 1989 and lived in a dedicated meditation retreat centre for five years from 2001 to 2005. He is known as the teacher's teacher, having helped hundreds of mindfulness teachers to enrich their teaching and practice.

Suryacitta co-designed and lectures on the Mindfulness and Compassion MSc at Coventry University in the United Kingdom. He also teaches, and runs retreats in the UK, Europe and Australia.

He is known for his ability to keep teaching simple, practical and relevant to real people living real lives.

He encourages teachers to use silence and pauses in their teachings and to learn to teach with stories and metaphors which bring mindfulness alive for their students.

He appears on BBC Radio offering monthly thought for the day and has appeared on BBC tv offering mindfulness as stress release.

Suryacitta lives with his wife Gaynor and their two dogs in Leicestershire in the United Kingdom.
